Wow, that is terrible. I am so glad that you and the other volunteers are trying to replant the forest. I've been told that our property was once covered with spruce and fir trees, but the previous owner chopped them all down and threw the trunks down the cliff at the edge of our yard. Some of them were HUGE. We've slowly been replanting, with obviously slow results. We'll never live to see such monstrous trees... though one of the previous previous owners stopped by at one point to tell us how happy he was to see the trees returning.
Actually my producer told me, after I recorded one of them, that I sounded a little too juicy. So I quit bringing water into the studio with me. Who knew that would be a problem?!!!?
Listening to your story with smoke in my eyes and nose really brought home the sad truth that July and August can be cruel with fire. Enjoyed hearing your voice.
It’s been a cool leaning experience to be in studio to record them. They’ve given me a lot of coaching about pacing, pausing, and emphasis. They also encourage me to gesticulate and speak TO someone, so it helps when Claire is in studio with me.
On the subject of trees and tree-planting, I just picked up a copy of this book (I'm willing to follow Amy Stewart down many a strange twisting and turning):
What an amazing way to pull together the book with our planting experience
Glad you liked it, sweetie! You're not saying that just because we've been married for 37 years, are you?

Thanks for your story Jeannine. We need to speak for the trees! Even ones we’ll never sit under.
What goodies do you consume to prepare your mellifluous voice for a brilliant broadcast? 🤡
