much to be grumpy about. In Aotearoa New Zealand we have a bunch of right wing lightweight CEOs, conspiracy theorists and racists trying to form a government across three political parties to rule over us with wars on the poor, the indigenous, the workers, the homeless, the gangs, the non-CEOs, and anyone they label as "bottom feeders" (yes the incoming prime minister of NZ has stated that he doesnt cater to that lot). Throw in the unpredictable weather and my usual space of solace in the maara kai (food garden) doesnt always work to allay the grumpies (or uglies as we sometimes call them). And of course there is western colonial genocide in its latest form in Palestine and the ripple effects being felt in our hearts. in the middle of all that, to have a case of the uglies at random things makes sense. I had a working bee today and noone turned up. not even a Sally. random.
Sally A is silly, don't fret about her; you still have 2,383 readers who LOVE seeing your messages in our inboxes. BTW, my husband is a Peter, too, and also gets annoyed by people who insist on calling him "Pete."
Hang on, though, what about 'Con Air'? Surely a Nicolas Cage masterpiece....? 😉
I feel your pain with the 'Peter', not 'Pete' thing. My brother and I each have three-syllable names, and we have ALWAYS used them in full! It's so irritating when people decide FOR you what you are called! 🙄
In my family, the generational pain continues! We named our older son Jake—just Jake—but in school, people started calling him Jacob. What!!!!!!???Thats even longer than Jake! His first email address was NotJacob@blahblahblah.com. Ooof. Thanks for the comment, Bec!
Oh, that's so funny - I guess people thought they were being clever! 🤣
My classmate Katie at junior school had been very upset when she was awarded a certificate on which the name 'Catherine' had been written in beautiful copperplate script. 'That's not right!' she told the teacher, not giving any other information as she handed it back. The replacement certificate read 'Katherine'.
I feel your pain especially if you live in a city that has multiple teams playing different sports and they both lose. Bummer. Well there is always tomorrow
Yesterday was particularly poignant as two of “my” teams played in Denver. The Nuggets throttled the Bulls, which just made me feel sad for the Bulls. At least it distracted me from the real pain of the actual world.
Speaking as a lifelong Nets fan, sorry about that game the other night. They promise to revert to their usual losing ways ASAP. It's all Spencer Dinwiddie's fault. (It's very fun to type the name "Spencer Dinwiddie," and even more fun to say it out loud.)

Sending you an intercontinental hug. Maybe you need to find less important things to worry about. Doesn’t NZ have a good rugby team to fret over?
yes they lost. thank you for your interesting sense of humour that helps.

Pete? There’s nothing to it! But Peter? That’s a name! The second syllable does it.
LOVED this post!

Her full name was, in fact, 'Katie'.
Here’s a gloomy laugh! 💀 Chuckled through this post. Thanks, Pete…r.
That was a close one, awaiting that final…r! How would like it if I called you Melind, eh?
🤣🤣
You are one funny gentleman 👏👏 💯 😂😂 and as soon as my senior pension goes up, you’re eighth on the list ‼️ With amusement, Debbie Collins
Glad you are amused! That’s the whole point. Rooting for your pension raise!

FORMER BULL SPENCER DINWIDDIE! The Bulls are actually in town tonight, and have a lead on the World Champs in the first half. Could it be?
I'm so sorry, IIDSSM.
Thank you for the sympathy, and the new-to-me acronym!
😎
Hmm, a little bit Eeyore today? You need a good French deli and food supplies to open and SOON!
Actually I’m going to eat some thistles and complain some more. Anybody seen Winnie?
