I love this idea! And thank you for the link to "Too Many Daves." I will watch it tonight after getting my fil tucked in... and you gave me an awesome idea for him - he's bored stiff and can't do much... maybe I can steer him into journaling (with a little help from yours truly, of course). I'm off to the coal mines, good night!
My all-time fave from Dr. Seuss is McElligot’s Pool, which tells the story of young Marco who won’t be dissuaded from fishing a little pond, and envisions all sorts of amazing creatures who might be considering his bait. Rather like life, actually.
I just found it on Internet Archive (https://archive.org/details/mcelligots-pool)! That is indeed a fun one, though unfortunately was withdrawn from publication in 2021 for portraying "people in ways that are hurtful and wrong." Different times, more innocent...
Yep. A few of the fish were racial stereotypes. I get it. A shame to have it withdrawn though. Those are teachable moments with a kid to say, hey, he got that image wrong, and here’s why. But the rest of the images, plus the message, are delightful! I just asked my family for that spread to be framed for me for Father’s Day.
Hey WomanofNoImportance! You’re important to me for the gallant act of restacking. Thank you.
It is often the little things we do, that most others won’t notice, to selflessly promote the good works of others.
Amen to that, sister.
I just had a chance to listen to "Too Many Daves." I love it! And yes, Marvin O’Gravel Balloon Face is a wonderful name!
Thanks for (re)sharing this, it’s got me reflecting in a way I wasn’t expecting!
The unexamined life isn’t worth Substacking.

I hope you get it, that sounds like a lovely Father's Day present!
How could I not? I never make requests, because I have two of everything I’ll ever need. But I don’t have that, yet!
I wish you a happy Father's Day in advance!
So glad I maybe helped a little, maybe. That’s good work for an otherwise unexceptional Tuesday!
