Last summer I boarded a ship with 3,000 strangers and invaded Alaska. Turns out, the Last Frontier is big enough to contain multitudes. WRITTEN AND ILLUSTRATED BY PETER MOORE
"Triangle of Sadness" was one bat-sh!t crazy film. I watched it with my daughter and her college roommates, which added to the surreality of the experience.
It's one of the reason I love the Oscar nominations every year. There's no way I would have streamed Triangle of Sadness without the best picture nomination. And this year I probably would have averted my eyes rather than watch Poor Things--this year's nominee for most bat-shit-crazy film. And yet, Poor Things sticks with me, like a visual scar. You just can't ignore it!
My daughter is an Academy Awards completist, which is how I landed on that one with her - quite a memorable experience (and Poor Things is on my to-watch list for much the same reason, although I think she may have already seen it, so I'm probably on my own for that one).
My personal favorite right now is AMERICAN FICTION, which, as a book guy, you should definitely see, if you haven't seen it already. It's a great Black comedy in every sense of the word.
Haha!!! I had so much fun reading this post. You always make me laugh while giving me something to think about. "OUR SHIP WAS BIGGER THAN ONE TOWN WE VISITED. Skagway, Alaska: Population 1,191. Holland America’s Nieuw Amsterdam: Population 2,881." Well, guess, what, OUR ship was even bigger than that 14 years ago. Just kidding!!! Curiously enough, that Alaska trip convinced me that cruises are really not for me. Perhaps I'll change my mind in a few years? I don't know.
I was dead-set against cruising…until I discovered how relaxing it was to chill on a big honking boat and eat delicious meals and enjoy fancy cocktails. (And Alaska was nice too.)

I am, as usual when it comes to pop culture, several steps behind. But it's definitely on my agenda!

Curious. Did you eat king crab every day? If not, why not? 🦀🦀🦀
Our ship had a variety of restaurants and we hit ‘em all. I don’t think you’d be disappointed with my consumption levels of delicious food!
