THE HEADLINE in The Guardian, was alarming.

NEW YORK CITY IS SINKING DUE TO WEIGHT OF IT’S SKYSCRAPERS, NEW RESEARCH FINDS

“The city’s structures, which include the famous Empire State Building and Chrysler Building, weigh a total of 1.68tn lbs, which is roughly equivalent to the weight of 140 million elephants.” 

That’s terrible news, with implications for a sea-level city that’s struggling to keep its head above water.

Hey! I’m struggling to keep my head above water, too! Throw me a life ring!

But that’s also an opportunity for a cartoonist, who can envision a whole world of solutions.
