The current events curriculum my class uses covers Fat Bear Week every year. This year, I barely read the headline when a student said, "that's a bad word."
I LOVE YOUR IDEA OF RANGER’s WEEK. They are my absolute heroes! All the shit they’ve endured with endless inadequate funding and stupid tourists would gut me.
The documentary on the youtube channel of livestreams at Katmai opens with footage of an approaching bear and then…zeros in on their beautiful spherical belly. But as you say, “prepared”!
On a more somber note, my best friend from high school swore that she only survived two rounds of chemo in her 30s because she had ‘banked’ enough body weight to mitigate not being able to eat for months. She got an extra 5 years.
I’m humbly very grateful to live to my age, and made the decision to love my assigned carriage, regardless of what shape it insists on being this year. It will inevitably change some more too.
Now that’s maturity. We all need to accept how our bodies shift and adapt, and ultimately break down. That’s life. Now I’m gonna rub my belly in gratitude. It’s a part of me! Thank you for the wise reflections on my silly cartoon.

See? See? Future generations will ask: What were they THINKING????
Oh my, laugh out loud funny!
Luv the LOLs.
Ha! Loved this!

Thanks for your support in hoping I’m not eaten by a bear. It means a lot.
🤣 You’re in good company, Peter - there aren’t many people I’d wish that on! 🐻
Thank you for this! Hahaha!!! Bear #27 "Tummy Trouble" -- that's a lot to digest.
Another public service from the Road2Elsewhere.
A soothing balm.
I think Fat Park Ranger week would be terrific!

I’ve started to pat mine too and named it Magnifico. It’s a radical mindset for someone who spent most of life naturally thin.
Vitamin S (silliness) is an essential vitamin best delivered in a visual format. This was one of my favorites. 🐻
Are you going to vote, on FBW?
I’m a conscientious objector to fat shaming.
